A Living Glossary for the Age of AI-Powered Search

Last Updated on April 19, 2026 by Aimee Jurenka

Wait, What Does That Even Mean?

Are you having trouble keeping up with all these new roles, acronyms, and frameworks?

Same. So I started collecting them.

Welcome to AAW: All Acronyms Welcome – a living, breathing glossary for the fast-shifting language of AI-powered search.

I didn’t coin these terms. I’m just curating what’s out there. Some will stick. Some will vanish. Some haven’t even been invented yet.

But right now, they’re showing up in posts, in job titles, in conversations that shape where this field is going.

Why a Glossary? (Especially One That’s In Flux)

Because language can lag behind the pace of change. And when everything’s being renamed, reframed, or reinvented, we need shared reference points even if they’re temporary.

This isn’t about having the final word. It’s about noticing the words that are emerging.

Because when we name something, we start to understand how it works and how to work with it.

Some Terms I’m Seeing Right Now

🧱 Content Engineer Formerly: Writer Signals the shift from storytelling to system-aware content design. Think modular, structured, prompt-optimized outputs ready for both users and machines.

📚 Cheditor Formerly: Content Manager Short for “Chunk Editor.” Focuses on preparing content for chunk-based retrieval—think internal libraries aligned with vector databases and assistant-style UIs.

🧠 AI Visibility Engineer Formerly: SEO Manager Not a strategist. Not just a researcher. A signal systems operator building infrastructure for visibility across human + machine ecosystems

Are these names permanent? Who knows. Are they helping us frame the conversation today? Definitely.

A Glossary for the In-Between

This glossary isn’t about certainty. It’s about tracking change as it happens.

If you’re also out here screenshotting unfamiliar job titles, bookmarking spicy acronyms, or just trying to parse the newest “X-as-a-Y” framework, this glossary is for you.

Come Add to It

I’m not trying to own this language. I’m trying to open it up.

This glossary won’t always be right. But it’ll always be right now.
